Selecting Your Destination

Hotel ? Motel ? Bed & Breakfast?

Camping? Rent a Camper?

1st. Class or Economy ?

Selecting a destination depends on
the type of accommodations you are looking for.
Here are a few suggestions.

 We'll start with 1st class.
Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada is by far the best the central Florida Keys has to offer. It is on the water, and a Luxury Island getaway. Do you want to fish the famous middle Keys for big bones? The fish here are huge and numerous, but very weary of the men that stalk them in flats skiffs. It's been said that these fish are college grads! But getting back to the place to stay .....
there are other accommodations to be had in the central Keys but plan on paying at least  $75 double occupancy, and in most cases much more.
Accommodations in the Lower Keys are a little less expensive than the Middle Keys, and with a little more to choose from. In Key West there are large hotel chains, and the competition helps with the pricing, so check out the Comfort Inn in Key West for the best prices. Of course, you can stay on the water and have your guide pick you up at the dock. The Marriott's Casa Marina Resort is the lap of luxury on the Atlantic side, and the
Hilton Resort & Marina on the Gulf side, are two of the top destinations.
Both are in Key West and very close to everything.

If the most important thing to do is to fish, and you have a budget to work with, here is my plan. There are good, clean rooms at the Comfort Inn in the Homestead/Florida City area on Route 1 just off the Florida Turnpike. You are right in the middle of the greatest fishing . I know .... I live here .... it's great!!!!. There is also top notch accommodations in Miami, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne & many more to chose from for every budget.

But in South Dade, out here in farm country, well just think of it........
To the west you have Flamingo and the Everglades backcountry only 30 to 45 minutes away by car. It is some of the most remote fishing there is. Snook, Redfish, Speckled Trout and even Tarpon in the winter and spring along with all of the rest of the inhabitants that the Everglades is known for. Some guides run 40 minutes  from the Middle Keys to fish Flamingo with their anglers, but that takes time .... fishing time .... and that is important time.

  To view maps of

Biscayne Bay

Flamingo

South Florida

You have Biscayne Bay to the east only 10 minutes away. Some of the best bone fishing is done in sight of the Miami skyline. Oh .. Yes .. And Permit .. well .. There is plenty of permit to tempt your fly rod to come out and do battle. The outside of the bay is covered by flats and keys that make up the eastern edge of Biscayne National Park. Some of the bonefishing here is better than the .. well, you know .. The Key's. Ok. There I've said it.  But don't tell everybody! The fish here are not as educated as those ..... others. Don't get me wrong ... they not stupid, only a little easier to outsmart with feathers. When it comes to fishing with spinning gear, it's easy....... Ok,    not easy,    just easier.
Well,    a little easier.

Of course, to the south are The Florida Keys, the all around Saltwater Fishing Capital of World. Key Largo is only 30 minutes away, and Islamorada is only an hour. The fishing and the surroundings are the things dreams are made of ... for sure! I love fishing down there every chance I get.

There are also many other options ..........

Camper Rental.... is an idea that many of my anglers have

been doing ...... Having the freedom of spending a couple of day's in the Everglades National Park then running down to Key West for the sunset festival, and returning to Key Largo for the Bonefishing ....... all with your room neatly with you at all times ....... no packing & un-packing .....

Just call Camp-Out Inc...and reserve your room and transportation at the same time ....... there number is 305-257-5400 for the best deals .......

Camping ......For the only FIVE STAR campground & R/V

resort in The Key's go to America Outdoors Visit their web site

Located on Key Largo surrounded by coconut palms, gumbo limbo trees and the best white sandy beach in the Key's.

The Marina & docking facilities are so top notch that the Baybone ,

part of The Redbone Celebrity Series Tournament, was held here

in 1999. So add this resort to your list of stops ...........

We also have some Special Trips Pages so check them out too.......

Well, thanks a lot for stopping by, and I hope I've helped a little.
